2 stroke for woods and trails? NEED HELP ASAP!

I am 15 looking for my first dirt bike and I am about 6 ft 190lbs. I am looking for a bike and don't really know what to get. Most of you will say get a 250 4 stroke but I don't want to spend tons of money if something happens to it. I was thinking about a 250 2 stroke to only use for woods and trails. Most of the trails are going up hills and are rocky and have many ruts. What is a good 250 2t to get? By the way my budget is about 1500 don't want to go any higher because it will be my first bike.

I am looking at a rm 250 1999 for 1500.

This is what the seller says:

I have a 1999rm 250 for sale or trade...bike runs great and has no problems. Bike as a fresh top end, full fmf exhaust new front fender new chain new bearings around the whole bike (linkage, swingarm, front and back wheel and upper and lower shock bearings) carb was just cleaned, new throttle cable, 2 sets of fat bars also has hand guards too just not on the bike right now. Tires are in good shape fresh oil change and new air filter.. Asking $1500 or trade for a truck or a 4x4 vehicle or anything of the same value worst I can say is no

Rear tire reversal for better "edge"

Does anyone ever reverse their rear tire after it's been slightly worn to get that"edge" back? I have a Dunlop MX52 with about 5 hours on it and it looks non directional... Rather than running a worn out tire and buying a new one can I just reverse it on the rim and continue running it for a while?

2013 kx250f shifting probs

I've got a 2013 kx250f that was running fine until I let my buddy ride it for a little. He came back in and soon the bike was stuck in gear and won't shift. The shifter won't move up at all and when pushed down it just springs back up with no changing of gears. Any advice or opinions welcome. Thanks

Dodged a bullet!

I bought a used 2011 yz250 that when purchased the PO handed me a set of rings and top end gasket kit. The bike had 100hrs on it and he said he planned to re-ring it 150hrs. I hadn't heard of "re-ringing" a bike, but at 150hrs the piston looked good so I stuck with the plan. I now have 200hrs and planned a for a full top end and not a second too soon!

The cylinder will be sent to be replated. Note the scoring on the exhaust side

Wear and no crosshatch anywhere else. This is intake side.

The right side power slide (not sure what to call it, but its the little bullet like piece of metal that each of the power valve arms connect to) had gunk/sand stuck in it.

Only thing that makes sense is that during a wet/muddy enduro my pipe got bent away from the header. I finished the race and then swapped out to a back up exhaust for the second day. I'm guessing mud/sand/water might have gotten sucked up into the exhaust side? Not sure how else to explain exhaust side marring and sand/gunk in power valve? I always keep my filters super clean and the intake side isn't all that bad.

Anyways, one lucky find and I was a couple turns in last week's race from grenading the bike.

Top of piston...seems off. Lean? Pre-detonation? What's the fix. Go richer? Cool ace of spades though!!

Good after non guys first time poster here.  I just picked up a 2001 YZ 426F.  First dirt bike in a long while.  I picked this bike up really good shape accept that it dont idle.  I have been through these forums quite a bit and have tried a few things.

I did clean carb twice seems to run smother but still wont idle.  I checked valves I think the intake is a little two wide being at .017mm and the exhaust seemed ok at .023mm.

My first thought was to turn up the idle a bit with the screw.  There is no screw to adjust idle????????.  What am i missing here i have seen it in many pictures but this bike dont have one.

If I hold the throttle on just a bit it idles as soon as i let it go it shuts off.  It seems to idle good for a long time if i leave the hot start lever out.

My garage is at about 10 degrees inside if I use the choke cold start it wont start if i push that back in and pull out the hot start (from cold) bike fires right up.  But still wont idle.  Advice please.

number on carb is 5JG5 500111

i am postive that is a 1.5 tread but i am not sure how to measure the size IE M12 x 1.5

I do have a M12x1.5 in my tap and die set but the drain plug does not thread in to the M12x1.5 die.

like I said I am positive on the M**x1.5

I want to find a fitting that I can use to make a tool like this

I bought a CRF for my wife and She isn't that tall. I have seen where people have lowered the rear suspension by drilling holes in the lower shock mount. Has anyone tried this and had any success ?

The bike seems pretty tame but just a bit too tall for her.

Thanks

My chain is all the way stretched to where I can not move my tire back any further. I do not have the money to buy a chain by this next weekend. How much would a +1 front sprocket shorten the chain up if at all? I would like to be able to ride but I do not have $100 to blow on a chain by wednesday.

48mm oc whats the difference?

Hi, I have an 07' ktm 525xcw set up for gnarly pa. rocks and such. I had the forks revalved years ago by a reputable tuner but the square edge bump compliance sucks. I just bought a set of 03' 200exc forks off ebay with a slavens revalve so I'm hoping to just switch springs and give them a try as the cost was less then a revalve. So what changes did ktm make over the years thanks.

Back in December I traded my 08yz450f for a 12 kx250f. I rode the bike once the day I got it. A week later I changed the oil and it locked up the next ride. Due to school I was too busy to tear it down. Tore it down last week to find that the piston melted onto the cylinder. New piston and cylinder came in Friday. Rebuilt the bike today. Went to take the oil filter out and instantly found out why it locked up...... The filter was in backwards. 400 dollar lesson learned. Bike runs great now though!

I recently bought a Honda, I don't normally use Honda anything. I can't find much on the internet about mods, parts arnt that hard to find.

What are some of yalls favorite mods for this bike?

I was also told I can't use a bore kit for this bike?? Is there a reason why not? Is it a tolerance issue?
